Pictures in these galleries were all photographed at 1/8 of a second. The number 8 has always been my favorite number, and - when turned sideways - it becomes the symbol for the infinite. Although the images were conceived inside a digital camera, these pictures have not been digitally manipulated in anyway.
I was taught in photography classes not to shoot hand held at shutter speeds less than 1/60 of a second. However, these images have been created by ignoring traditional rules, through continuous experimentation, the development of my own technique, and the decision to shoot everything at an 8th. As quantum physicists tell us that people, objects and all matter may not have the solid boundaries that we usually perceive them as having, these pictures may be a more true representation of what the world really looks like. |
